THE SUNSHINE BOYS

Here's a short clip from the recent Raleigh Supercon panel where I talk about how I came to work on Justice League International.

Oh, yeah: some guy named Keith Giffen was sitting next to me and I still have no clue who he is!  (But he seems absolutely thrilled to be up there with me, doesn't he?)

Update:  And here are the Sunshine Boys again, talking about their, shall we say, unique collaborative process.

  1. Isn't Keith Giffen one of those inter-dimensional imps... that kind that bother Superman and used to bug Batman in the Silver Age.

Yeah, isn't he Mr. Mxyzptlk's cousin or something?

    Or Bat-mite;s Dentist?

Or Johnny Thunder's Thunderbolt's former roommate?

He is some thing like that I think.

    1. If Keith Giffen didn't exist, Keith Giffen would have to create him.

If you know what I mean!

    2. Sounds an awful lot like Emanuel Kant's statements about God.

Just to be sure, see if you can get him to say Neffig Hhiek. See if he disappears.

Of course... don't do it when a deadline is too close. If i remember correctly, he'll be gone for three months.

How have you two never written a Mxyzptlk story? Probably reminds him too much of home.

    3. Wow. I LOVE the idea of using Mxy in one of our stories. Well, not Scooby, but...

  2. Dematteis...

I made comic book history yesterday.

You may recall when you were at a show here in Detroit, so was Gerry Conway.

However, my letter regarding his work on Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows, probably becasue of a vast military conspiracy... or because it was still a few years from coming out. Both equally likely.

Anyway, so when he returned this weekend, I signed a copy of that comic for him.

Comic book history was made right here, in America. Deal with it.

A new chapter has begun in the industry. You're welcome.

    2. I sense sarcasm... but I can't figure out why.

But, I'm no hero. Just a visionary.

If there is anything in comics worth shouting from the roof tops it is Great Lakes Comic om September 29.

They are having an auction for William Messner-Loebs... so he can stop being homeless.

Also, a portion of the ticket sales are going to him.

Those are the people who should be honored... you know, then my history making.

    3. That's a good thing. Glad they're lending a helping hand.

      And...sarcasm? Me? Never!

  3. Is there any chance you guys get to wrap up JL 3000 in a special or something? Maybe a formal "Super Buddies vs Justice League 3002" longer book or miniseries :D?

Your writing, my reading, a bunch of crazy characters... I don't know, just think about it.

    1. It's a great idea and I think we'd jump at something like that if DC would go for it. JL 3001 could have gone on for years and I'd love to return to that universe.
