My novella The Excavator—with illustrations by the brilliant Vassilis Gogtzilas—is on sale today. You can learn more at the Neotext site or order directly from Amazon.
You can also read a sample here.
Very excited about sharing this story with all of you. Hope you enjoy it!
Well, this was a pleasant confluence of events. I came here to get a link to include with my post about DOCTOR STRANGE - INTO SHAMBALLA (which I liked much more this time than the first time I read it, shameless plug http://fourrealities.blogspot.com/2022/06/doctor-strange-into-shamballa-1986.html). Saw this post, checked Amazon, and saw the book was available free on Kindle Unlimited in Canada, which I just happen to be in the last week of a free trial of (and that free trial was extended a few weeks back when I went to cancel it, and they offered me another month, which I almost didn't take since I rarely used the service, with too many other more convenient reading options).
ReplyDeleteExcellent stuff. I liked how it started with a Twilight Zone (or in modern terms, Black Mirror, as I was expecting a technological twist) style premise, but gradually moved further, adding in the best aspects of horror and action, procedural dramas and a touch of superhero lore, and then used it to tell a story of genuine emotion. And great art by Gogtzilas, very good at setting the mood of the piece.
Is there a chance of a print edition (alone or as part of a larger collection of prose), or is this digital only? If it's digital only I'll definitely buy it to have after that Kindle Unlimited trial runs out.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Bob. So glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteNo plans for a print edition at the moment, but I'll check in with the folks at Neotext and see if that's going to change.
And glad you liked SHAMBALLA more the second time around!
Well, I'll go ahead and pick it up anyway.
DeleteI'm going to have to revisit your monthly DOCTOR STRANGE run soon, I suspect I'll like it more (and I only recently got the one issue of it I was missing). And I have a digital collection of your first DEFENDERS run sitting here.
Are this and IMAGINALIS your only published prose fiction works?
Yes. Unless you count the ABADAZAD books I did for Disney with Mike Ploog: they're half comics/half prose.
DeleteI'm working on another novella for Neotext right now, so I hope there's a lot more prose in the future.
Sounds interesting. A shame I will never be able to read it.
ReplyDeleteI don't trust digital. Let me know if it comes out ion hard copy though.
Now, inspired by absolutely nothing going on in the world, a blast from the distant past...

Jack
We're actually discussing a print edition right now, Jack.
DeleteAnd that Dwayne McDuffie piece? Amazing. And horrifyingly relevant.
