GOING GALACTIC

I've got two conventions coming up in July. First is GalaxyCon New Orleans (July 10—12) and then comes GalaxyCon Raleigh (July 23—26). For some reason I'm not listed on the GalaxyCon site for either convention, but I suspect that will be corrected shortly.

These will be my first cons of the year and I'm really looking forward to getting back out there and meeting the folks who read, and appreciate, my work.

Update:  For reasons too complicated to get into here, I will not be at the New Orleans GalaxyCon. GalaxyCon Raleigh—July 23—26—is still a go. See you there, I hope!

  1. I am five episodes deep into Spider-Noir. It is surprisingly well made fora streaming show. My only real critique is that I think it would have been better if they had made up their own characters instead of rooting it in Spider-man... and since the main Character is named Ben Reilly, not Spider-Man, I think they agree somewhat.

ANYWAY, the reason why I bring it up is that Aide from all the otehr reasons to enjoy it, you might get a kick out of it as a New Yorker. It is set in early 1930s New York, and that is done better than most period pieces do.

Most of the time, as you may have noticed, they try to stick to only a few locations, because it is so difficult to facilitate a feel, especially for buildings that very likely were torn down.

However, they actually made it feel like a living breathing New York of the 1930s. Like it was trying to approximate the city, not sound stages from movies of the era.... which is a little ironic due to an interesting part of the story.

Just passing it along. do with it as you will.
