HAIL APARO

Happy Birthday (a day late) to the great Jim Aparo. I always thought of Aparo as the Sal Buscema of DC: a brilliant, and absolutely dependable, artist/storyteller who never got enough of the high praise he deserved. Everything he touched—from Phantom Stranger to Batman to Aquaman and all those characters who guest-starred in Brave and the Bold—was gold.

I would have loved the chance to work with Jim, but, sadly, it never happened.

  1. Hey Dematteis, you used to work at D.C., you knew all teh people.

I was wondering, do you know if Robin ever compared notes with little Orphan Annie about their experiences beig adopted by rich weirdos, with no regard for the physical welfare of children?

    1. Actually, Robin and Annie dated for a while. But Daddy Warbucks objected and broke them up.

    2. I would have thought they would have broken up over Annie finding ouy Robin's pupiless eyes ere only a mask.

I assume Warbucks had a prblem with Robin having been a part of teh JSA, a team founded by Roosevelt.

OIF you want some good news in ths world, look up teh "Mississippi mIRacle," assuming oyu had not already heard of it.

    3. Yeah, the pupil-free eyes would have ended the relationship eventually.
