KNOCK KNOCK KNOCKING

Apologies for the last-minute notice, but the National Audio Theater Festival's production of my play "Knocking on Heaven's Door" will be streamed live tonight at 7:30 Central Time/8:30 Eastern on KDY-FM.  (You can also listen at the NATF site:  a stream link should appear at 7:15). "Knocking..." is a half hour, Twilight Zone-ish fantasy about the afterlife.  If you've followed this blog for any length of time you know what a lover of old time radio I am, so you can imagine what a kick it was writing my first audio drama.  There'll be two more plays on after mine, one of which was written by fellow comics scribe—and co-creator of Starstruck—Elaine Lee.  Please listen, if you're so inclined!

  1. I missed the first 10 minutes, but the writing was good. And Brian's voice sounded familiar. As an old time radio fan I have to ask, do thry do this every week?

Wishing you nothing, but goodwill and hipness from here to the stars,
    Jack

  2. This is a once-a-year festival that they do, Jack, but they do other events during the year. Also, some of the folks involved with the festival have another company called Audiocomics (among other things, they've done Elaine Lee and Mike Kaluta's STARSTUCK). It's looking like I'll be writing a multi-part audio adaptation of MOONSHADOW for them next year.

Sorry you missed the first ten minutes...I'm hoping they'll put a stream up so people can listen at their convenience.

  3. I hope they let audiences stream at their convenience, too. I missed it! :(

I did, however, finally download "Shadow of the Bat!", "Scorn of the Star Sapphire!" and "Time out for Vengeance!"

SOTB! was great. Very atmospheric, and like all good horror, it left the right parts to the imagination. The crunching/bite SFX were fantastic!!!! That's creepy stuff in all the right ways.

SOTSS! was good, too. My favorite part was the teaser with Batman and Steve Trevor.

Not surprisingly, TOFV! was my favorite, since it involved time travel. Booster's great as always. And I love the villain (I won't risk spoilers) and hope there's bigger plans for him before all is said and done.

    Best!

  4. There will be a free podcast of "Knocking..." available some time this summer, David. I'll post a link here as soon as I know.

Glad you enjoyed the BATB episodes. TOFV was my favorite of the bunch, as well. Every aspect of the show really clicked.
