WALL-CRAWLING

Edge of Spider-Verse
#5 is out next week—featuring the tale of Sergei Kravinoff, the Hunter-Spider! It's a fun story—plotted by Dan Slott, scripted by yours truly, and illustrated by the great Bob McLeod, inker of Kraven's Last Hunt.  (You can preview the entire issue here.)

And speaking of Spidey: Had a chance to proof the first issue of Spider-Man:  The Lost Hunt. Set during the same era as my recent Ben Reilly:  Spider-Man series, TLH features a powerless Peter Parker, a very pregnant Mary Jane, and a danger from the past that threatens to engulf them both and upend their new lives in Portland.

Can't wait to share this one with all of you. It's out in November!

  1. This might succeed in being the most depressing book of the year. You will undoubtedly show Pete and MJ very much in love. We all know what happen to the marriage. You said MJ is "very pregnant," and we all know what happened to the baby. Worst of all, we all know what happens to that shirt he will be wearing, it is the one that he spills a whole jar of mustard on.

Goddammit Dematteis! The shirt went with everything. it could be formal, it could be casual. It was comfortable. Pete looks good in it. You are a cruel man to reopen that wound, and for FIVE ISSUES!?

    1. Forgetting the shirt for a moment (since I don't get the reference): The only way to write a story like this is to treat it as the only reality. Meaning—whatever happened, continuity-wise, in later stories, can't exist in my head while I'm writing it. Pete and MJ are married, they're going to have a baby, and, as far as I'm concerned, they'll live happily ever after, too!

    2. About the reference...
On many fabrics, mustard stains, especially when it is large amounts

    3. So you are saying you are actually writing a prequel to your old nemesis Tom Defalco's Mayday Parker series?

    4. I assumed the mustard thing referred to a specific story... Wise guy!

  2. I think this is for the best....I for one would love to see a universe where Ben Reilly gets to be an Uncle to his niece and co-exist with her.

    1. It would be nice to see the DeFalco Universe revived, wouldn't it?

    2. Well, Mayday has made something of a comeback in Dan Slott's latest Spider-Verse storyline (won't spoil how if you're a curious reader and want to find out for yourself)
