May the year ahead be truly transformative for all of us. May we step out of shadows and confusion into the light of kindness, compassion, wisdom, and simple human decency. May we manifest unending magic and miracles.
If we dream it together, we can make it so.
Well said. happy new year JM
ReplyDeleteAnd to you and yours, Tim.
DeleteHappy New Year 2026!
ReplyDeleteI hope Marvel will give you green light to continue your "Spider-Man '94" comic. It would make this year very special.
Best wishes to you and your loves ones, Mr DeMatteis.
Thanks! And to you and yours!
DeleteMr DeMatteis, since the last issue of Spider-Man '94 came out on Christmas' Eve and you was already out for the holidays, we couldn't comment you about it.
ReplyDeleteCould you make an entry on your blog about "Spider-Man '94 #4", please?
That issue has come and gone and I don't really have much to say about it. I will, of course, be talking about our fifth and final issue before it comes out!
DeleteWell, in that case, I hope you don't mind if I comment you a couple of things.
Delete1º) I was afraid that Calypso/Mariah Crawford was dead because of her absence, and I ended up being right. I feel sorry for Kraven. At least it wasn't Morlun who killed her.
2º) "Mayor Fisk"?! Sweet Christmas!! (Never said better). This definitely open the door for A LOT of stories to continue this comic in the future!! "Devil's Reign", Jameson's Anti-Spider Squad, Beyond.... The possibilities overwhelm me!!
3º) What exactly happened to Kaine at the end? His new appearance kinda remind me DC's Swamp Thing. It creeps me out!!!
What's happening to Kaine will be clear next issue. And, yes, Mayor Fisk opens up lots of possibilities. (Credit to my editor, Danny Khazem, for suggesting it!)
DeleteThen let Danny Khazem know: He had one humongous idea. Something like this open the door for the perfect excuse to continue this comic. (Besides the fact we still need to see HOW Peter found Mary Jane, of course).
DeleteKingpin was the big main villain of the whole series back then, always trying to destroy Spider-Man because of the obstacle he was for his crime empire. Now? He can literally turn the whole city against Spidey; and Spider-Man can't just attack the Mayor of New York. Allies like Daredevil, Black Cat, or Cloak and Dagger, would be essential here.
It could perfectly be plot of a whole season like in the original series, like "Neogenic Nightmare" or "The Sins of the Fathers".
If I may add my two cents...
DeleteI personally believe that in issue #5, you are going to reveal Peter Parker has some connection to this SPider-MAn fellow.
I don't know for sure what it is, but i have a feeling they are connected somehow.
Jack
I agree. Lots of potential there!
DeleteYou are such an insightful fellow, Jack. How did you ever figure that out? ; )
DeleteHello, Mr. DeMatteis! I am a big admirer of your creativity. The continuation of the beloved animated series generally pleases me very much, but there are a couple of moments that slightly disturb the immersion when reading. And I am not speaking about the specific art (the criticism of which, in my opinion, is often exaggerated), but rather about inconsistencies. For example, Mary Jane's eyes in the animated series were blue, but here they are green for some reason. I understand that this question is probably not for you, but do you happen to know: could Marvel later release an edition with corrections of such details ? And also, Happy Belated New Year !
ReplyDeleteYou have very sharp eyes, Muhammad!
DeleteAnd Happy New Year to you, as well!
Mr DeMatteis, the preview of the last issue of "Spider-Man '94" has been released already and it sure looks intense.
ReplyDeleteMorlun's plan to transform all humanity... Is there any chance this plot will have some connection with "Spider-Island"? It would be a good time for Mary Jane to have Spider Powers and help Peter.
After all, it wouldn't be the first time we see this series' Mary Jane with powers: First when she was brainwashed by Baron Mordo's cult, and then the Return of Hydro-Man (although that was MJ's clone). As a character, MJ doesn't need powers to be awesome, but she sure looks great with them.
Even Spidey said it in "The Lizard King": "I was hoping to be the only one to wear the superhero costume in the family ; of course it'll probably look better on you anyway".
No super powers for MJ—but I hope you enjoy our conclusion anyway!
