I have a question about the Caped Crusader. I have not seen it, but from what I have heard there are some pretty unique takes on stories and characters.
ReplyDeleteDid you pitch your story, or did they come to you with a basic idea of what they want? Saw the name Jim Georgian" in the description of your episode, seems like that could go wither way.
Also, I realized that a combined element of Master of Kung Fu, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and perhaps some Taoism hold the key to it all.

The above video goes into detail about the process, Jack; but, yes, they came to me with the idea. Jim Corrigan was a character in the first season and this is his return in a more...Spectre-ish form.

Indeen, it is true I a, beginning to push th eidea that all libraries... or at least those in major metrpolitan areas.... should add a new book shelf full of agreed upon American classic novels and short stories tanslated in the languages of the groups who most commonly immigrate to America.
Ten, right next to that acollevtion of classic or well-regarded books from said nations that see large numbers of immigrants to the U.S. translated into English.
I see it as a good way to provide a free place for increased cultural understandingand cohesion on both ends..
Yw many libraries do carry books in multiple languages, but this would not only allow for those with signifigant cultural importnace to be accounted fr, but also made readily available and easy to lcoate without knowing the exact book.
It is true, your hero has taken up this radical stance.

ReplyDeleteI just saw the episode you wrote of Batman: Caped Crusader and loved it! I must say it actually reminded me of another story you wrote back during your time on Spectacular Spider-Man, when the Vulture was dying and sought forgiveness from May Parker for his killing of Nathan Lubensky. Probably coincidental, but I made that connection anyway. It's likely because I just read your run on Spectacular Spider-Man recently (which I LOVED btw). Your understanding of psychological drama and character dynamics made you one of my favorite writers. I also really enjoyed your story on the Mary Jane one-shot. Keep being awesome!
Thank you, Levi. Your kind words are deeply appreciated. And, yes, the theme of seeking forgiveness, redemption, certainly runs through a lot of my work. Maybe that's why the producers chose me to bring Jim Corrigan's story to life.
DeleteJM - I just now read the WHAT IF: SPIDER-MAN one shot and loved it. Question for you - Cinar is a fantastic artist, but do you know whether Mike Zeck and Bob McLeod were approached about drawing it?
ReplyDeleteMike is retired, he's been done with comics for a while, so that never came up. I would have LOVED to reunite with both those guys for this story, but it wasn't meant to be.
