Dematteis, I am sure you get this question all the time, but....

Never crossed my mind. (I'm only vaguely familiar with the character and his world.)

Then I would recommend... if you get a chance... watching Batman Beyond episodes just for the fun of it. You worked with those guys, but this is a chance to see their storytelling from a different angle and tackling genres and sub genres they don;t in other shows.
ReplyDeleteEpisodes like Meltdown, Heroes, Earth Mover, Lost Soul, Hooked Up, Eyewitness, Last Resort, and April Moon almost feel like they are getting away with the type of stories and tone they write.
And when you consider the plot... I am not giving away any spoilers... revolves around a dead tech mogul coming back to life to tackle control of his company through his heir's body AND another about how computer manipulated images can cause people to believe an innocent person committed a crime, well... maybe it is a bit more relevant that we would like.
Also, you could hear Patton Oswalt say, "that belonged to Philip K. Dick" and when Batman looks confides follow it up with "The Greatest writer who ever lived!" Also the classic line "that was a lawsuit, you madman"

Deleteoh Dematteis, there is no such thing as treadmills. That is just something made up by John Broome for a flash comic. Pure fantasy and borderline nonsense. Why would anyone walk and not go anywhere?
DeleteWhat's next? claiming to tool around New York in the F.F.'s flying bathtub Fantsticar? Claiming you use the Phantom Zone projector instead of putting it on the curb or down the chute?

My treadmill is real and I've used it multiple times to travel through time. And occasionally across space. And into parallel universes. And, once, to New Jersey.
DeleteI never said that inter-dimensional, interstellar, or tie travel were impossible, I said that treadmills do not exist.
DeleteAlso, you tipped your hand by claiming you went to New Jersey. Everyone knows that no New Yorker would willing go to New Jersey. It is a widely known stereotype. That might be the only thing as unbelievable as these "treadmills."
