SEMI-REGULAR MUSINGS FROM THE SEMI-REGULAR MIND OF WRITER J.M. DeMATTEIS
Speaking of spiritual leaders from India, this seems a good time to ask---what were your plans for Haven? The days of her publication were when I was in diapers, but I recently found out about her and was so compelled by her I've collected every issue of X-Factor with her in it. I feel like you had some big plans for her and her story, but she just got killed off after you left. I really loved her and found her a fascinating, incredible character. She moved me tremendously, and I even got a couple of my friends into her too. I don't mean to be rude by hijacking a blog with only the most tangential relevance to her, but I just really, really want to know, and I didn't think you'd be writing a blog about her anytime soon, so...this just seemed my best opportunity. I hope you don't mind! Also, I never knew about Meher Baba before, so I learned something today!
To be honest, it's been so long I don't remember much about Haven, but I'm sure I wanted to set her up as a recurring antagonist for the group and another point of view on the mutant issue. She was supposed to be a link between humanity and mutantkind, someone with a new perspective, who believed that we were all going to evolve into something new and better and we were going to do it together. (Of course her methods were questionable!) I also remember liking the idea of the sentient fetus that was guiding her. Thought it was cool and disturbing. All that said, it was a long time ago and I don't know if I'm remembering things correctly!Glad I could introduce you to Avatar Meher Baba!
Those were both things I liked about her! And yes, definitely cool and disturbing.Thank you so much for answering me, and so swiftly!
Also, I apologize, if I'd just read a little further down on your blog I'd have seen that He was your spiritual leader (I just found this place when I googled you because I wanted to find out more about Haven) and I hope I didn't offend by asking about your comics work in a post dedicated to Him, I was just very excited.
Not offended in the least.
Jaya Avatar Meher Baba!!!!!
