AND EVEN MORE CONSTANTINE

Another interview—one of my favorites—from Wondercon, discussing the animated Constantine: City of Demons (now streaming on CW Seed).

  1. That seemed less like an interview and a plug of a show and more like two super knowledgeable fans talking with each other. I challenge someone to watch this interview and not feel happy. That may have been the single happiest interviewer I've ever seen you speak with. So great. Thank you for posting.

    1. Glad you enjoyed it, George! She's interviewed me before and she's a total delight. Just talking to her made me relaxed, and she's certainly relaxed, so it made for a good talk. Which is why I wanted to share it.

  2. SO, I met Keith Giffen over the weekend. He was not thrilled by how much space you took on JLI #1, with YOUR signature.

Also, I picked up Weird War Tales #70. INteresting thing, it had a story by a guy named Jim Demategio... or some such thing... and the story seemed very close to one in an issue of Mystery in Space, with a similar name.

    1. Well, Keith will just have to deal with it, won't he? : )

Glad you got to meet him! Did you have a chance to chat or was it just a quick signing?

WW #70 wasn't the first story I sold to DC, but it was the first of my stories that was published. I remember the thrill of buying it off the newsstand, astonished that something of mine was right there in front of me, in a DC comic.

And, yes, the germ of that story mutated into science fiction for MYSTERY IN SPACE and for an 1800s tale in HOUSE OF MYSTERY. A freelancer's gotta do what he's gotta do to survive!

    2. I'm a freelancer, and if I tried that I would not have much of a future in it. Ah... working in comics.

I chatted with Mr. Giffen briefly. He was in a very poor spot, and there was little space for a line.

He did tell me that Scrappy will be replacing Fred in Scoobs Apocs. Also, that he will not be giving up the book no matter anyone is buying it or not.

Here is the weird thing, and its true, I just said I was enjoying the book.

He also said the replacement was because everyone hated Scrappy. Again, completely unprovoked.

Seemed like a nice guy, though. Which has me a tad concerned.

    3. I varied the characters and tone in each version of the story. Each one had a different feel, although they shared DNA.

Glad you got to chat with Keith. And, yes, he's a nice guy/. Nothing to worry about there!

And, yes, Scrappy's coming up very soon!
